Another big win for the Varsity Blues hockey team this past Sunday. Once again the boys came out of the gate with the hunger to win, and that was apparent from the first puck drop. Two quick goals from rookie Artem Meshcherin gave the Blues the upper hand in first 5 minutes of play and they never took their foot off the gas from that point on. Following that, a spectacular goal by rookie Eddie Yan gave the boys some breathing room, but the pace never faltered. Topping off his two goals with a third, Artem gets not only his first goal of the preseason, but also his first hat trick of the year, hopefully with many more to come. Strong goaltending once again allowed the defence to breath, and the forwards to get creative. Defensive presence in the Blues’ zone was strong all game and offensive presence was fantastic as well. There are many trends developing both offensively and defensively for the Varsity team this year and seems to get better and better each game.
