On an unusually warm and sunny Wednesday afternoon the Blues took the long coach ride to St Catharines to take on the Tigers. The Blues were short several starters and the fatigue from battling to win the CAIS Nationals last week in Vancouver clearly took its toll on the squad. Despite the strong tailwind UCC struggled to get shots on the RC net and their passing was erratic on the sticky natural grass pitch. Captain PJ Bujouves ran all over the central midfield to keep some semblance of control of the play and finally in the 35th minute winger, Alex Cinquino came off the bench to open the scoring. Half time score UCC 1: RC 0. Despite some further substitutions the Blues still struggled to get control of the game against the determined tigers. Keeper Faiz Khwaja kept the Blues in the game and eventually crafty veteran striker/midfielder Oscar Brown put the Blues two ahead with a low hard drive in the 65th minute. The Blues held to the final whistle to keep clean sheet and the winning streak alive.
Man of the Match: PJ Bujouves for his tireless running in midfield. Honourable mention: Faiz for the shutout.
