The grade 6 hockey keeps rolling along. Following up their win at the UCC Boyd Caldwell tournament the boys travelled east to Montreal to compete in the LCC Invitational Tournament. Many players were reunited with their billet partners from the UCC Tournament. It was great to see boys catching up with new friends. After watching the basketball team start their tournament on Thursday afternoon they were off with their billet family. Driving in early on Friday morning they began their march towards the final. After 2 wins the boys faced Kuper Academy School. UCC didn’t bring their A game and Kuper was able to hang on for a 2-2 tie. Overtime consisted on a 3 person shootout with Kuper edging the Blues 3-2. Not to be deterred they still were able to finish first in their pool setting up the Championship round of games. Saturday proved to be a day of upsets with results that only can be described as peculiar. After all was said and done, UCC ended up playing their billets from LCC in the final. UCC played arguably their best game of the tournament coming out ahead 4-1. There were many memories from the hockey side of things but more importantly the memories from the billeting experiences and the 6 hour bus rides is what will be remembered by the players. Next up for the team is their CISAA schedule. Congratulations boys.
