This past weekend the Blues played host to four Quebec teams including their billet partners from Lower Canada College. Rounding out the draw were three other Ontario schools. UCC started the tournament off with a game against their billets on Friday morning, handling them easily with a strong offensive performance. The final scores was 7-2. The Blues kept things rolling as they moved to the Mara Rink to face Appleby College. Strong play at both ends of the ice resulted in a 4-0 victory.
With first place in their pool within their control UCC faced a strong Loyola High School team from Montreal. Loyola played a very strong game using speed and size to neutralize the Blues at both ends of the ice. The Blues fought hard, never giving up and managed a 1-1 tie wrapping up first place in their pool.
Moving into the second day, the Blues faced College Brebeuf in the semifinals. Once again Les Chevalier proved to be formidable foes. The game was a back and forth affair with leads changing hands on multiple occasions. Once again though the Blues came out on time 4-3 stamping their ticket to the final. On the other side of the draw, Crescent School was able to top Appleby College setting up a repeat of last year’s final between the two Toronto School.
The Blues played a strong game from start to finish not letting the Coyotes get into the game. A final score of 4-1 in the Blues favour brought the trophy back to UCC for the first time in a while.
Congratulations to the Blues – Tournament Champions and Lower Canada College who were able to beat Loyola High School in triple overtime in the Consolation Final.
