(Oct 16th) – The U14 soccer team played its first game on the ‘Prep’ Fields (where the team practices) today in its rematch with Crescent School. The pitch was somewhat worse for wear, which may have contributed to what Coach Moon described as ‘heavy’ touches by the Blues who dominated play but found it more difficult to string together crisp passing sequences and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Eli Preston would eventually break the goose egg with a goal tight in on the keeper. It would be the first of three for him on the evening, with the opposition’s defence finding it difficult to contain his speed and physicality. Lucas Fiorini would follow-up with an excellent hesitation and cut back move just inside of the 18 yard box, before clinically slotting the ball into the Coyotes net. Fiorini would score again and Josh Gelfand rounded out the account for the Blues. Jack Fejer and Sebastian Jones split time in nets and looked comfortable in helping the team keep a clean sheet.
Next up for the U14 team is a game this Wednesday (Oct 18th) at St. Michael’s College where they will get to play on SMC’s large turf field.
