December 3, 2017
The U16 Hockey Team opened their 2017-18 season this past Wednesday afternoon with a road game at St. Andrew’s College. As always, energy and tension were elevated heading up the 400N as every road game at La Brier Arena offers a stiff challenge. Considering the fact that it was the opening game of a new season, our players were eager to hit the ice.
The Blues and the Saints skated to a 5-5 tie in a physical and back-and-forth game. The coaches are particularly proud of the players for rising up to the level of physical intensity and putting forth a strong offensive display in the first game of the year. UCC opened the scoring and carried a number of one-goal leads throughout the game. The Saints were able to tie the game with their goalie pulled, which was an unfortunate yet just result as both teams were worthy of a point in the standings on this particular afternoon.
The coaches would like to thank all of the parents who made the drive to Aurora to take in the action as the visiting support was prominent in the stands.
The U16 Blues open their home schedule with two games next week. On Monday December 4th the Blues will host Crescent and on Wednesday December 6th the Blues will welcome St. Michael’s to Wilder Arena. Both games are scheduled for 4pm.
