On a brisk sunny afternoon, UCC travelled to Crescent in a true six pointer of a game that would help to solidify the standings and give one team the upper hand on their opponents. With head to head results the deciding factor in the overall placing in the standings, both teams came out of the gate wanting to get the advantage. Crescent came out strong and went ahead 1-0 on a long range short form 20 yards out that went off both posts and in. Once again UCC had to battle back from a goal down. This motivated their play and they pushed to get the equalizer and Liam Delaney scored near post with a precise shot off a direct free kick. 1-1.
After an injury to Liam Delaney, UCC pushed on and Zain Assaf worked hard to get the ball from the Crescent defence and cut it back to the penalty shot marker where Arbaaz Ebrahim first timed it into the back of the net. 2-1 UCC. This was the score line at the end of the first half and remained that way for much of the second half. UCC continue to work hard to get that 2 goal lead and the next goal came of a strong passing play and Ben Atkinson slotted it in to make it 3-1. Crescent worked hard to push the ball around, but they were not able to put it past our defensive line to cut into the lead. UCC closed out the scoring with a penalty shot earned off a corner kick and Josh Duckman converted the PK to make it 4-1. An important victory for team moral and confidence moving forward in their pursuit of 1st place.
