On an overcast Wednesday afternoon, UCC took to the field against their counterparts from Appleby College.  The game started off at a high tempo with a lot of up and down play.  The break through came early in the first half as the AC keeper made a save on a long range shot but couldn’t handle the shot and laid it nicely in the path of Josh Duckman who slotted it into the net to put UCC up 1-0.  The score remained as is for the remainder of the first half and much of the second half.  Appleby was putting a ton of pressure on our defence, but the UCC defenders stood strong to maintain the clean sheet.  Going into the final minutes of the game, Appleby was still creating a bunch of scoring opportunities, but Sam Pickersgill stayed onside to put away a rebound save from the Appleby goalie to get the insurance marker and make it 2-0.  Shortly thereafter, Zain Assaf scored 2 goals back to back in a late flurry to finish off the game 4-0 in favour of UCC.  A tight game where composure was a necessity and strong team play led to this very important victory heading in our next match vs Crescent.
