The UCC Varsity Cross-Country Team took to the course for its final races of the 2017 season on Saturday November 4th at the OFSAA Championships from Petawawa, Ontario.

Our trip got started on Friday November 3rd with a 7AM departure from campus with sights set on Petawawa. Following a fuel stop, a short jog and a bite to eat in Bancroft, the team headed straight to the race site in Petawawa for course walkthroughs and some shopping at the Nike OFSAA tent. Following this initial visit, we were back on the bus heading to Ottawa for a team meal and a good night’s rest in preparation for the next morning’s early departure. Delicious food, a relaxing evening and light-hearted team bonding was had by all.

Back in Petawawa on Saturday morning, the Midget Team was up first in the 11:30am race. Nicholas de Chazal, Ethan Mistry, Luke Pitblado, Max Sipos and Ian Vyse took to the course for the Blues and finished in 20th place out of 37 schools with a point total of 545. A total of 265 runners were included in the field and our boys should be extremely proud of representing Upper Canada College in the most competitive race that they can qualify for. Special mention must be included for Ethan Mistry, as Ethan finished the race in 6th place which is the highest OFSAA finish for any UCC runner in the school’s history. Congratulations Ethan on this historic accomplishment!
