UCC 144 for 6.

Durham Schools Select XI 83 for 5.

UCC won by 61 runs.

The Varsity Cricket team concluded their season with a challenge game at Toronto Cricket Club, taking on a team selected from Durham Region Schools. On a cool overcast day, UCC batted first with Rob Dean (striking the ball beautifully for his highest score – 45) and Adharsh Kennedy Ganesh (19) posting an entertaining opening stand of 54 in just 33 balls. Useful contributions from Faiz Khwaja (14), Tathagat Jaiswal (15) and Jeff Ing (22*) took UCC to a commanding total of 145.

On an increasingly cold afternoon, UCC struggled to maintain their usual high fielding standards, but the bowling was impressive, with Lachlan Rigby taking 2 for 10 and Adharsh Kennedy Ganesh 2 for 15. With Khwaja and Akash Kennedy Ganesh also bowling economical spells, the Durham XI focused mainly on defence as they reached a total of 83 for 5, with Umer Muneeb scoring 25 not out.
