Athletic Mission Statement

As a vital pillar in the education of boys, athletics at Upper Canada College strives to develop exemplary character through commitment, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.

Brent MacKay

Athletic Director Upper School: Brent joined the College in 1984 as the Head Athletic Therapist and held that post until 1995.   During his Athletic Therapy career, Brent worked with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL, as well as the Canadian National Wrestling and Baseball teams. He also represented Canada as a member of Pan Am and Commonwealth Games Medical teams. He took over as Athletic Director in 1989 and oversees one of the largest high school programs in Canada. Brent coached the College’s Varsity Hockey team for 17 years and is currently coaching Varsity Baseball and JV Football. He has served as Chair of the CISAA three times and is the current Transfer Chair for the CISAA. He is married to Judy Garay and has three children, Amy, Lucy and Travis.

AthlScreen Shot 2016-06-29 at 11.59.12 AMetic Director Prep School – Nigel joined the Prep School in 1991 as a grade 5 Math, Science and PHE teacher. He has run the athletic program which includes 12 sports and over 40 teams for over 20 years. He has coached many teams, but is currently the U11A soccer and softball coach. The Prep School runs many annual tournaments including a combined U12 hockey and basketball tournament that brings over 500 athletes on campus for a weekend each year.  He has chaired the CISAA for two terms and has held various executive positions over his tenure. He is married to Dianne White and has  two children Cameron (UCC ’15) and Emma.
